Responsibilities
Search Engine & Geocoding
Develop a place/address search system: autocomplete, typo-tolerant matching, ranking and relevance tuning.
Design indexing strategies: schema, analyzers, synonyms, multi-index/alias, zero-downtime reindexing.
Build search APIs meeting SLAs (p95/p99), optimizing caching, rate limiting and A/B mechanisms for ranking when needed.
Routing, Navigation & ETA Serving
Build routing services and route-computation APIs: shortest path, constraints (avoid toll/ferry), multi-stop, navigation optimization for electric vehicles and options respecting turn restrictions.
Integrate real-time traffic signals into routing/ETA: speed profiles per road segment, incident impact, dynamic rerouting.
Master routing/graph algorithms and be able to implement and performance-tune them: Dijkstra, A*, bidirectional search; acceleration techniques such as Contraction Hierarchies (CH)/multi-level, ALT, k-shortest paths.
Optimize algorithms over large road graphs: data structures (adjacency, priority queue), pruning/heuristics, precompute, tile/segment caching, CPU/memory optimization; design to degrade gracefully when traffic is missing or the system is overloaded.
Design measurement and quality-control mechanisms: latency budgets, timeouts, fallbacks and p95/p99 observation against SLAs.
Real-time Traffic Platform
Build pipelines/serving for real-time traffic: ingestion, aggregation per road segment, smoothing, freshness and confidence scoring.
Design stream-processing and optimized storage (time-series/kv/cache) to serve extremely fast read queries.
Map Ads & Monetization
Build a Map Advertising system: location/route targeting, frequency capping, basic budget/pacing, logging and reporting.
Design platform-level anti-fraud mechanisms (e.g., click spam/signal spoofing), auditing/logging and traceability.
Custom Map & Custom Geofences
Develop Custom Maps: styles/themes, layers, tile endpoints, feature flags per tenant/market.
Build Geofences (circle/polygon): create/update, point-in-polygon queries, event triggers (enter/exit) and a simple rule engine.
Optimize geofence queries: S2/H3/Geohash indexing, caching, batching and throughput optimization.
Requirements
3-5 years of Backend experience; experience with high-scale/low-latency, production-grade systems preferred.
Bachelor's degree (good grade or above) in IT, Software Engineering or related fields.
Proficient in Java and/or Go; deep understanding of concurrency, memory, profiling and performance tuning.
Experience designing distributed systems: microservices, API design, data modeling, caching and reliability patterns.
Experience with search platforms (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch or equivalent): indexing, query DSL, relevance tuning and performance optimization.
Experience with real-time/near-real-time systems: Kafka/Kinesis/PubSub; solid grasp of streaming concepts and time-based data processing.
Ownership mindset: proactively leading, communicating cross-team, and making data-driven decisions with clear trade-offs.
Nice-to-have
Mapping/mobility domain knowledge: road graph, map tiles, routing/ETA/traffic concepts.
Geospatial indexing: S2/H3/Geohash; experience optimizing spatial queries (spatial join, point-in-polygon).
Experience with large-scale caching (Redis cluster), multi-layer caching and invalidation strategies.
Experience with Kubernetes and cloud (EKS/GKE), autoscaling, service mesh; observability infrastructure (Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry/Jaeger).
Experience with A/B testing, feature flags and experimentation systems.
Ad-tech backend experience: pacing, attribution, reporting pipelines.
Experience working with big-data platforms.

Working Hours
- 05 official working days at the office (Monday – Friday).
- 02 remote working days per month on Saturdays on a rotating schedule.
- Flexible working hours with check-in window from 08:30 – 09:30.
