Senior Data Scientist (Decision Intelligence)

HanoiMiddle/SeniorFull-timeOpenings: 3Deadline: August 16, 2026

About the company

VinSmart Future (VSF) is Vingroup's technology company, formed by merging the Group's entire technology ecosystem. As a core driver of Vingroup's future growth, VSF is AI-first - with artificial intelligence as the foundation of everything we build. With a talented team of nearly 4,000 local and international technology experts, VSF focuses on creating high-utility technologies that enhance lives and connect data, models, and infrastructure to unlock new possibilities.

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist who's passionate about solving real-world operational problems by combining the power of Machine Learning and Operations Research. This isn't just a role for building forecasting models — it's an opportunity to turn predictions into concrete operational decisions: optimizing production, scheduling, routing, and resource allocation at the real-world scale of factories and charging station networks. If you enjoy thinking through the full path from business problem to mathematical model, and want to see your work create measurable real-world impact rather than staying confined to a notebook, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with production data, factory operations, and charging station network data to identify bottlenecks that can be solved with AI/Machine Learning, and estimate the economic value before building anything.

  • Build, test, and deploy models for forecasting, classification, anomaly detection, and decision support on time-series, tabular, and equipment sensor data.

  • Develop models to support production optimization, predictive maintenance, demand forecasting, load/energy forecasting, and equipment operational health assessment.

  • Combine forecasting models with Optimization, Scheduling, and Routing algorithms into a complete decision-making pipeline: forecast outputs and their error margins serve as inputs to the optimization problem, with operational efficiency—not model accuracy—as the ultimate success metric.

  • Develop AI Services and integrate models into internal systems/platforms, ensuring latency, throughput, and computational cost constraints are met in production.

  • Collaborate with Optimization, Data, Software, and business teams to clarify requirements and real-world constraints, and deploy/evaluate solutions directly with end users.

  • Monitor model performance post-deployment (accuracy, stability, and efficiency); automate retraining and operational workflows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist / ML Engineer / OR Engineer, including at least one ML or optimization system that has been deployed in production and delivered measurable impact.

  • Degree in Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Econometrics, Industrial Engineering/Operations Research, or a related field; strong foundation in Machine Learning, Statistics, Probability, and Data Structures & Algorithms.

  • Hands-on experience with Time Series Forecasting, Classification/Regression, Anomaly Detection, or Predictive Maintenance; proficient in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, XGBoost/LightGBM) and SQL.

  • Able to formulate optimization problems as LP/MILP/CP and proficient with at least one solver (Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, HiGHS, Pyomo); skilled in applying meta-heuristics (GA, SA, Tabu, ALNS) for large-scale problems that exact solvers cannot solve within an acceptable timeframe.

  • Familiar with real-world operational problems: Scheduling, Routing, Inventory Control, Assignment.

  • Able to connect forecasting outputs to optimization problems into a complete decision-making pipeline, using operational efficiency as the measure of model success.

  • Strong hands-on capability; understands the full pipeline from experimentation to Production (Docker, CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring) and can work with data integrated from multiple sources.

  • Strong modeling mindset: able to translate a business problem into one with clear objectives, constraints, and evaluation criteria.

Preferred

  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, energy, EV/charging stations, logistics, or industrial systems.

  • Advanced OR knowledge: Graph Theory, Network Flow, Column Generation, Stochastic/Robust Optimization; Discrete-Event Simulation or Digital Twin.

  • Geospatial data (PostGIS, H3, OSRM) and international logistics practices (Incoterms, DEM/DET, S&OP).

  • FastAPI, MLflow, Airflow, Kubernetes, Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure); vector databases (FAISS, Milvus, Qdrant, pgvector).

  • National/Olympiad awards in Mathematics, Informatics, or AI; achievements in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Optimization competitions.

Benefits

  • Income competitive with the market.
  • Lunch allowance.
  • Preferential rates across the Group's ecosystem: tuition discounts (Vinschool), healthcare (Vinmec), resorts (Vinpearl), vehicle purchase (VinFast), and home rental or purchase (Vinhomes) … under the Group's policies.
  • Full insurance coverage as required by the Labor Law (Social, Health, UI), plus Company-provided personal health insurance based on position level, and periodic health check-ups at reputable hospitals and health centers nationwide.
  • Access to strategic, large-scale key technology projects.
  • The opportunity to work in a professional technology environment that brings together scientists, experts and engineers from leading technology companies in Vietnam and worldwide.
  • Free learning resources on Udemy, Coursera and O'Reilly; internal workshops; certification sponsorship; and special mentorship programs from the Group's and Company's leadership.
  • The chance to join the Group's technology clubs and internal tech events to learn and turn personal projects and ideas into reality.
  • Training programs to become an "Internal Trainer" and share expertise, with special benefits.
  • 12 annual leave days, plus public holidays and Tết as regulated by law.

Working Hours

  • 05 official working days at the office (Monday – Friday).
  • 02 remote working days per month on Saturdays on a rotating schedule.
  • Flexible working hours with check-in window from 08:30 – 09:30.
  • Proactively manage time to complete 08 working hours/day.

Work Location

  • Technopark Building, Hanoi
