At WWDC 2026, Apple introduced a rebuilt-from-scratch Siri that can answer open-ended questions, understand personal context, and extends Apple Intelligence to Safari, Photos, Mail, Calendar and Home.
At WWDC 2026 in June 2026, Apple officially unveiled the next generation of Apple Intelligence along with a nearly rebuilt-from-scratch Siri AI, which will ship with iOS 27.
A far smarter Siri AI
According to Apple, Siri AI is "significantly smarter, more knowledgeable and more capable" than the current version, able to:
- Answer open-ended questions naturally and more conversationally.
- Understand personal context from the user's messages, email, photos and notes.
- Recognize what is on screen to help in the right situation.
- Look up the latest information from the web to answer real-time questions.
Apple Intelligence goes deeper across the OS
Beyond Siri, Apple Intelligence expands into many built-in apps: Safari (smarter suggestions and summaries), Photos (new editing tools including Spatial Reframing to recompose a shot, Extend to expand images, and an upgraded Clean Up that removes distracting objects more naturally), plus Mail, Calendar, Home and Shortcuts with context-aware automation and suggestions.
When will users get it?
The new Apple Intelligence features will be available in fall 2026 alongside iOS 27, for supported devices and languages. Based on Apple's familiar release schedule (usually the second week of September), the stable release will likely land around mid-September 2026.
This is one of the most anticipated Siri upgrades, after a long stretch in which Apple was seen as trailing Google and OpenAI in the mobile AI-assistant race.
